How I’d grow online from zero in 2025
4 simple steps that gets you real traction as a new creator
158 days of 2025 have already passed and if you’re still sitting with the thought of starting your online journey, it’s really a ‘high-time’🤯
I know beginning something is quite daunting (I mean, I’ve first-hand experience about that).
And, it’s even more tough when you’re doing it all alone.
But, you don’t have to worry about it at all.
Why? Because I’m here to tell you about the exact ways that have helped me grow my online community.
Let’s go🚀
1. Decide the ‘What’ & ‘Where’
First things first, you need to know:
a. What niche are you going to choose, and what kind of content will you create (text, video, short-form, or long-form)?
b. Where will you start publishing the content you create?.
I’ve already answered both of these questions in this FREE resource.
Along with that, make sure to check out this funnel. It’ll help you go from broad ideas to a clear, specific niche.
2. Systems + Tools = A non-negotiable
Now, that we are clear with our content type and platform, it’s time to focus on: ‘How are you going to create content’.
Content creation seems very simple, but actually it’s a challenging game, if you’re not using proper systems or tools.
a. How to create systems
Choose a CMS (Content Management System) like Notion . I manage 95% of my content workflow in this tool. For the remaining 5% I use the Google suite and other tools.)
You can learn how to use Notion through this YouTube channel. Also, check this post for more info.

b. How to choose the right tools
Tools are your biggest armor as a solo content creator. Without them, you’ll keep humming and hewing.
You’ll waste time thinking about what to post, where to write, how to design and by the end of it…you’ll either be exhausted or drop the idea altogether.
So, take your time and find out the tools that are required to produce content.
You can start with:
a writing tool (like G Docs, Notion, Trello, etc.)
a design tool (like Canva, Kittl, Figma, etc.)
I’ve discussed about 32 tools in this resource.
3. The 100-Piece Rule
This rule states that no matter what happens, you’re going to create and share 100 content pieces. The biggest reason why most people can’t build an audience is they leave everything too quickly. They want:
quick success
instant results
Which in reality isn’t always the case. You’ve to walk a zig-zag road when it comes to building an online audience:
Your first 10 posts might get zero engagement
Your next 20 might get just a few likes
Post 70 might finally start getting some traction
By post 100, you may know exactly what your audience wants
At 200 or 500 posts, you’ll have found your voice.
Remember: The difference between a creator with 1 million followers and 0 followers is that the creator with 1 million followers kept showing up. Be the one!
4. Don’t Stay Stuck, Branch Out
Social media is a game of presence.
And, the more you can show up across different formats or platforms, the better your chances of being discovered.
Don’t wait for one platform to blow up to 1 million.
Branch out. Repurpose. Experiment.
Turn one long-form post into 3 short tweets.
Convert a newsletter into a LinkedIn carousel.
Break your video into bite-sized clips.
Reuse comments, replies, or insights from DMs.
But only do this when you have a substantial following and are comfortable with this switch.
No need to do this for show-off purposes. You’ll end up feeling frustrated and burned out.
That’s it for today.
See you next week,
Sweta
